**From Blended Family to Business Partners: Our Journey as Rubbish Heroes**
Life has a funny way of bringing people together and creating something extraordinary. For us, the story began when Mike and I (Laudy) combined our lives, blending two families into one. Mike brought his two daughters from a previous marriage, and I brought my son. Shortly after becoming a family of 5, our journey took an unexpected turn when Mike’s niece and nephew needed a loving home. Without hesitation, we adopted them, and just like that, we became a family of 7!
Blending our family was no small feat. It took patience, love, and a lot of learning to truly support one another. Along the way, we discovered that our ability to adapt not only strengthened our bond but also sparked a shared dream: to start a family business.
That’s how **Rubbish Heroes** was born!
### Turning a Dream Into Reality ###
With a passion for uncovering hidden treasures, we started a business specializing in reselling previously loved antiques, oddities, rarities, furniture, and home décor. As a family, we source our items from estate sales, flea markets, and private collections. Each piece tells a story, and our mission is to find these treasures new and loving homes.
Recently, we took a big step and opened a storefront at **Monger's Market in Bridgeport, CT**, at booth K10. This space has become our treasure trove, where visitors can explore our permanent collection of unique items.
In addition to running the shop, I’ve embraced my passion for furniture restoration and custom design orders. Breathing new life into old pieces has been a labor of love, and it brings me so much joy to see these items transformed into something fresh and functional.
### Working Together as a Family ###
Running a business as a newly blended family has been an incredible experience. It’s taught us to be patient with one another and to communicate openly. Whether it’s sourcing items at estate sales or setting up our booth, every moment is a chance to grow closer and share in something we all love.
Treasure hunting has become a family affair
— one that’s brought so much joy to our lives. Each piece we find represents not just history, but also the teamwork and passion that fuel our business.
### A New Chapter ###
As Rubbish Heroes continues to grow, we’re excited for what lies ahead. Whether you’re looking for a unique antique, a rare oddity, or a beautifully restored piece of furniture, we invite you to visit us at Monger's Market. Together, we’re making our dream a reality, one treasure at a time.
